Dr. Michael Winkler -an administrative director of graduate School of Mathematical and Computational Methods for the Sciences in Heidelberg- will provide a talk on 29 November from 8:30AM to 10:30AM about the Graph Problems and Multi-Agent Simulations.
Summary: Graphs are a powerful mathematical models with various applications in the computer sciences. One main attraction of this model classes is its general applicability in many problem fields, from scheduling to network analyzes and from dynamic simulation to relationship modeling.
This lecture series provides a first practical insight into the world of graph models. Motivated by actual applications from current research projects, we will focus on algorithms to compute solutions to some typical standard problems.
After exploring the necessary mathematical theory related to this field we will specialize the theory to the computer model of a free multi-agent system. This concept bridges the gap between discrete models and continuous techniques, a step that is considered difficult, but also crucial for successful projects.
